View Other Student Work

Good morning everyone! Today in class, our assignment was to watch other student's work and write what we observed! We needed to write the strengths and weaknesses of the film and our takeaway of the film. Dare to Thrill Film Opening by Daniel Garzon ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=4&v=nYpjHCwRO6Q(Links to an external site.) The camera shots and movements were very well done, adding a lot of excitement and tension to the scene. The editing was also clever and gave the film a mischievous feel. One moment that stood out was when the car lights turned red, and it cut to the girl’s smiling face, which was a nice, creative touch. However, the music was sometimes too loud, making dialogue hard to hear. The volume also changed unexpectedly, which was distracting. My main takeaway from this film is how important it is to balance music and dialogue in our own movie opening. Even though the music matched the vibe perfectly, it often overpowered the characters' dialogue....

Brainstorm/Ideas

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog! We are finally starting to brainstorm for our opening movie scene! Below is what me and group mates discussed this class.  For our film opening, our group is leaning toward two main concepts, both of which fit different genres and styles. The first idea is a mystery–thriller that follows one character through their morning routine. What makes this opening interesting is the way we would film it, using two different perspectives: a point-of-view shot that puts the viewer inside the character’s head, and a more standard shot from the side or back thats showing the entirety of the characters action. At first, the tone would remain happy, calm, and almost too normal. We want to add a twist in the last few seconds, showing that everything we’ve been seeing from a different angle (so anything not in the POV) is actually being viewed on a computer screen. This gives the audience a cliffhanger and establishes the movie’s main mystery by implying that s...

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for joining me on our media studies journey! Today, we were asked to take pictures that convey emotions to demonstrate our understanding of composition. Then we were asked to reflect on each image and consider how we could improve it!  If you keep reading, you'll see what I wrote. I hope you guys enjoy Commentary : I had the actor "fall" to her knees on the floor and reach for the door labeled "Exit Only". I used the rule of thirds to place her on one side of the picture, making the scene look more dramatic and emotional. Reflection:   Next time, I would improve this by using a different angle, like a low angle to show more vulnerability, or by moving things in the background so the photo looks cleaner.       Commentary: I used a mid-shot to show the actor holding the book and touching her head. I framed her in the center, so her stressed expression becomes the main focus.  Reflection: To improve the shot, I would've made ...

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my vlog! Today in class we were instructed to complete a skills check in our text book and pick our group for the opening sequence of our future movie.  Here are my skills My group will consist of Ana Jova, Elijah Damus, and Bianca Zapata! We all filled out the chart and had to compare it to see our strengths and weaknesses! We all have a strength in producing social media such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook. Ana and Elijah need to acquire the skills of using desk-top publishing software while Bianca and I are familiar with it but need to improve. Bianca is good at using online applications to enhance the meaning of texts, while the rest of us need to improve. Overall we share strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully along the way we can teach each other how to master some skills that some are good at and some aren't. Thank you so much for reading my blog! Hope to see you next time.
