Brainstorm/Ideas
Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog! We are finally starting to brainstorm for our opening movie scene! Below is what me and group mates discussed this class.
For our film opening, our group is leaning toward two main concepts, both of which fit different genres and styles. The first idea is a mystery–thriller that follows one character through their morning routine. What makes this opening interesting is the way we would film it, using two different perspectives: a point-of-view shot that puts the viewer inside the character’s head, and a more standard shot from the side or back thats showing the entirety of the characters action. At first, the tone would remain happy, calm, and almost too normal. We want to add a twist in the last few seconds, showing that everything we’ve been seeing from a different angle (so anything not in the POV) is actually being viewed on a computer screen. This gives the audience a cliffhanger and establishes the movie’s main mystery by implying that someone is secretly spying on them. For this idea, Ana and Noam would mainly be responsible for filming, while Bianca and Elijah would take on the acting roles. We would also mainly use household props, keeping everything simple and realistic, and would most likely film this concept at Noam’s house.
Our second idea is more energetic and fun, more of an action-comedy “teen spy” intro. The opening would follow four teenagers getting ready for their day, each introduced through a creative transition. For example, Teen #1 pulls a blanket over the camera, and when the blanket comes off, we reveal Teen #2 in a different room. Then the next character turns their back to the camera, creating a wipe transition to Teen #3, and so on. The idea is to create a montage of teenage spies that quickly shows each teens personality and tone! For this concept, we would interchange who is acting and filming since we are all a part of the film. Like the first idea, we would mainly rely on household props and would likely use Noam’s house as our main filming location.
In both concepts, each group member would take on different roles such as camera operator, director, editor, storyboard artist, or sound designer. When it comes to editing, since we all have previous experience (some more than others), we can help each other throughout the process. We will each blog weekly about our individual contributions and the project’s progress.
I hope you enjoyed!!
