Challenges in Film ( Blogpost)

Helllllooooo guys!

Today in class we talked about our progress in filming and we were asked to write about our obstacles while filming our initial draft. Here are some of the problems that my group came across.

1: Lighting issues

- One of the biggest challenges during filming has been lighting. Most of the scenes were shot indoors where there is not enough natural light, which caused harsh shadows on our main character's face and made the footage look dull. In one scene, the uneven brightness because of the overhead lighting took away from the shot's main idea. We had to adjust the filming site and use lamps angled differently to balance the light in order to deal with this. Additionally, we took test shots to make sure that the lighting was consistent on camera and filmed some scenes earlier in the day to take advantage of sunlight.

2: Sound challenges

-Sound has also been difficult to control. While filming, background noises such as people talking nearby and doors closing were picked up by the camera microphone. In one take, a line of dialogue had to be redone because hallway noise interrupted it. We fixed this by improving our mic quality and using "professional" portable mics instead of our phone.

3: Group coordination and responsibility

- Another challenge has been coordinating the group and managing time. It was sometimes difficult to get everyone together, and some scenes took longer than planned. To fix this, we created a filming plan and assigned clear roles. Everyone is pulling their own weight, especially the cameraman, who stays focused on framing and stability, while others help with lighting, props, and deciding if the scene is good or needs a bit more of help to finish.

Thank you so much for reading my blog, I hope you guys stay tuned for the next post.
