Moodboard

Image
Welcome back everyone! In todays class we had to pretend we are a set designer and create our own sets! We had to include things such as location, props, actors, costume, lighting, etc. I decided to make my sets the following images you'll see down below! I hope you enjoy. Ballroom! For my ballroom mood board, I chose chandeliers, masks, and fancy gowns to create an atmosphere of mystery and power. The dark reds and gold, paired with the warm lighting, were used to emphasize glamour while hinting at some secrecy. I made these choices to show eliteness, mystery, and elegance. I wanted the audience to assume the characters are of high society, people who are elite but may also be hiding secrets beneath their masks. My goal was for the audience to respond with both admiration for the ballroom and curiosity about what was going on within it. 1950's Diner! In this set, I chose images of milkshakes, burgers, and fries, as well as a waitress in her uniform, and pink and blue booths wi...

CASE STUDY

Hi everyone! Today we had to pick a film opening and analyze it. We needed to identify examples of camera shots, angle movement, and depth of field. For my movie I chose Twilight (2008) , as it is one of my favorite movies! I hope you enjoy Film opening: Twilight (2008) At 0:20, the screen is black, but Bella's voice-over begins and says, "I'd never given much thought to how I would die." At 0:23, an  establishing shot  of the forest appears. The combination of the voice-over, which talks about uncertainty and death, with the muted colors creates an isolating mood and a mysterious/eerie vibe, which makes the audience feel a sense of danger or uncanniness. At 0:28, a  high-angle shot   looks down on the deer, making it seem small and vulnerable. The forest is quiet, and the voice-over stops for a moment as we see the deer look and sniff around. The camera shifts from a steady to a shaky movement at 0:36-1:04, which is soon revealed as the predator's perspective. Th...

Camera Movements!

Image
Today in class we learned about camera movements and we had to make a demonstration of each shot. This is what I was able to do! Steadicam- This Steadicam shows a student sitting in her seat, reading the class book while looking immensely focused in what she's reading. Pan-  The shot pans through the library study area, capturing students deeply focused on their work and showing the concentration in the room. Tilt- The Camera tilts upward from where , a student is stretched out on the library floor, in comfort as he immerses himself in his book Dolly Shot-  The camera dollies down a library aisle behind a student who happily pulls a history book from the shelf, showing their excitement to learn about the past Handheld-  This handheld shot shows a student whispering something funny to a classmate, who laughs in response. Zoom- In this video you can see a student opening their computer nervously as they are about to start their test. Reverse Zoom- After the student is done ...
