Peer Reviews of Initial Draft

Hello everyone! Today during class we were told to share our videos with two groups for their feedback on what we could change about our movie opener. Here is what they had said: Criticism: 1. Dialogue was hard to understand at times. 2.  There should have been like eerie, ominous sounds in the back to make the setting more drastic and scary. 3.  Lighting was too bright up the waking up scene. Which makes it bit unrealistic.  4. The running scene was not needed because the person running was running too slow and they look like they could actually be caught up to.  Changes:  1. We can improve the audio quality in the videos in where the speech is incoherent.  2. We haven’t finished with editing so there will definitely be more ominous or eerie sounds/songs implemented into the video so the genre of the movie is clearly defined.  3. Changing the brightness to make the nature light/high-key lighting turn low-key would be a good change as it will make the ...

Challenges in Film ( Blogpost)

Helllllooooo guys! Today in class we talked about our progress in filming and we were asked to write about our obstacles while filming our initial draft. Here are some of the problems that my group came across. 1: Lighting issues - One of the biggest challenges during filming has been lighting. Most of the scenes were shot indoors where there is not enough natural light, which caused harsh shadows on our main character's face and made the footage look dull. In one scene, the uneven brightness because of the overhead lighting took away from the shot's main idea. We had to adjust the filming site and use lamps angled differently to balance the light in order to deal with this. Additionally, we took test shots to make sure that the lighting was consistent on camera and filmed some scenes earlier in the day to take advantage of sunlight. 2: Sound challenges  -Sound has also been difficult to control. While filming, background noises such as people talking nearby and doors clo...

Initial Storyboard

Image
Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blogpost. In class we were given a paper with boxes to draw a storyboard for how our film is supposed to look like. Below are the pictures I drew. My storyboard is titled "Eyes Everywhere". The opening follows Elijah as he starts his normal morning routine, but the camera switches between his POV and the stalkers POV, showing that someone is watching him without him knowing. The scene goes from Elijah waking uo to getting ready and then him hearing the doorbell. A master shot shows his house as he finds a mysterious box labeled "open me". When Elijah lifts a teddy bear from the box, the low angle POV shot makes it seem creepy and a sense of inferiority.  The storyboard ends with an high angle shot of Elijah and then a final reveal of the stalkers room filled with monitors watching Elijah's home. This ending sets up the theme of "stalker-ish" for the rest of the film. Thank you for reading my blog! Until next time.

Mood Board for Movie Opener

Image
Good Afternoon everybody! Since we wrapped up our idea for the final movie opener we were instructed to create a mood board to guide us and the vibe of the film. Below you'll see my mood board which is an interpretation of our movie! My mood board represents a mystery-thriller film that follows the morning routine of the main character. The top half of my mood board shows the main character in their regular outfit inside their house. The setting and natural sunlight are used to show that it is daytime and that everything feels normal and calm. This helps the audience feel comfortable at the start of the movie opener. The middle section of the mood board shows the stalker’s outfit, which is darker and more hidden to create contrast between the two characters. The teddy bear is an important prop because it secretly has a camera in its eye. It looks innocent and harmless, but it is actually how the stalker watches the main character from different angles  that will serve as a cl...

Final Idea for Movie Opener

Its our first day back in class from winter break! We needed to wrap up on our ideas for the movie opener.  From brainstorming, we decided to go with our original idea of a mystery–thriller that follows one character through their morning routine. The opening will use two perspectives, a point-of-view shot and a more distant angle, to create contrast and build tension. At first, everything will feel calm and normal, but the final moments will reveal that the character has been secretly watched through a computer screen, setting up the film’s main mystery. Im excited about directing because, yes the actor portrays feelings but the setting around us would help solidify it. Through lighting and mis-en-scene, we can work together to help shape the mood and make the scene more interactive for the audience.  I’m worried about finding time for everyone to meet up since we all have busy schedules, which could make filming challenging. However, having a reliable filming location helps ...
